Yeguada El Gales, the “Spanish horse stud of Wales” is situated in the beautiful countryside of Mid Wales. Our small, family-owned stud strives to produce top quality purebred horses with an emphasis on temperament, conformation and movement using only the highest quality horses, with top class blood lines from both the United Kingdom and Spain.

Share our passion for the Spanish horse
The region of Southern Spain, called Andalusia, is behind the name of the horse breed commonly – but incorrectly - referred to in the UK as Andalusian. The correct name for this breed is PURA RAZA ESPANOLA, which is abbreviated as P.R.E or “Spanish horse”.
Renowned for their good nature, stallions are usually kept entire and it is not uncommon to see small children riding them at the bustling “ferias.” In years gone by this amazing temperament combined with their bold nature and fiery appearance made them ideal as cavalry horses and evidence is shown in spectacular artwork throughout the new world.
As high school dressage became fashionable, they became prize possessions in the royal palaces of Europe – Known as “The Royal Horse of Europe.” Their influence can be see in many breeds throughout Europe, often crossed with native cold blooded horses to produce today’s warmbloods. America’s horses are mostly descendants of Spanish horses, as are the Hackney, the Welsh sections, the Conemarra and even the thoroughbred in the UK.
